About Joyson Johnson, Performance Marketer in Belgaum

The long version

Four years of running other people's ad budgets teaches you a particular kind of humility: the account tells you when you are wrong, every single day, in rupees.

I started where most people in this field start, with someone handing me a budget that mattered to them and trusting me not to waste it. What I remember is not the result. It is the week I spent convinced a campaign was failing because of the audience, when the real problem was a form that silently dropped every submission from an Android phone. Nothing in a dashboard tells you that. You find it by checking the boring things first.

That episode set how I work now. Before I look at bids or creative, I check whether the thing measuring success is telling the truth. In most accounts I audit it is not: a Pixel firing without the Conversions API behind it, a conversion counting form opens rather than enquiries, a thank-you page that loads twice. Fixing measurement is unglamorous and it is almost always the highest-return hour of the engagement. The order I work through it is written up in setting up GA4 conversion tracking correctly.

The second thing I learned is that the ad is only half the promise. If the ad says one price and the landing page opens with a brand film, the click is already lost, and no amount of bid tuning recovers it. That is why I build the pages too, in WordPress or Shopify, and cut the video and write the copy. Not because range is impressive, but because the ad and the page stop contradicting each other when one person owns both. The build side has its own checklists: technical SEO for WordPress sites and an on-page checklist for small business websites.

Working from Belagavi rather than a metro turned out to matter more than I expected. A smaller market saturates fast, so you cannot simply raise the budget when performance dips; you have to refresh the creative or narrow the offer. That habit travels well. When I run accounts in Pune, Bengaluru or Mumbai, where the auctions are far more expensive, the discipline of getting more from the same spend is already built in. Belagavi also taught me how differently categories behave here, which is why I have written separately about real estate in Belgaum and clinics and doctors in Belgaum.

The work I can show numbers for was run as a Performance Marketing Associate at Scratchpad, across roughly ₹25 lakh a month in managed spend at 5 to 7x ROAS. What those numbers hide is the shape of the work: dozens of creative tests that went nowhere, campaigns cut in week two, and a handful of angles that carried the quarter. Anyone presenting only the winners is showing you the highlight reel, not the method.

I am finishing an MBA in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, after a B.Com from KLS Gogte College of Commerce, Belagavi, and I hold certifications from Google, Google Ads, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot and Amazon Ads. The certifications matter less than they look. What they do is force you through the parts of a platform you would otherwise avoid.

Two commitments, since they are the ones clients get burned on. Every ad account, Business Manager, Pixel and analytics property is created in your name, and you keep them whether or not you keep me. And I will not quote a return before I have seen inside the account, because in the first week the honest answer is that nobody knows yet, and a confident guess is just a more expensive way of being wrong.

If you want the shorter version of all this, the work page has the accounts and the numbers, and the capabilities page has the stack. If you would rather just talk, get in touch and tell me what you are selling. If you are still deciding how to buy this work at all, the freelancer versus agency comparison sets out the trade-offs, and the free calculators will give you the break-even numbers before you speak to anyone.

Where I’ve worked

Jan 2026 – Present

Performance Marketing Associate

Scratchpad · Belagavi, India

Running Meta and Google Ads for B2C/D2C e-commerce brands on ₹10L+ monthly budgets. I set up Pixel, CAPI and GTM tracking, build the GA4 events, manage the Shopify catalogue, and report everything through live Looker Studio dashboards. Current accounts are doing 4–7x ROAS.

Jun 2022 – Dec 2025

Digital Marketing Executive

Artallur Technologies · Belagavi, India

Ran campaigns for education and service businesses across Belgaum and Goa: Meta Ads, Google search, social media, graphic design, video editing and WordPress sites. Most of these clients had no tracking and no reporting when I started, so I built the funnels, set up the measurement, and sent a weekly report on what each rupee was actually buying.
